The river Girvan is a well known salmon and trout river.

Robstone Fishery is a secluded stretch of the Girvan, 2,250 metres, of single bank, salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing with excellent access. Included within the sale is the fishing hut and bank to the edges of the fields as well as the solum of the river, to the medium filum (middle).

Whilst salmon are caught in later spring and early summer, the most productive months are generally July to October. Total catches in 2021 were 56, the driest summer on record, rain did not come until the end of September. The official five year average is 127 salmon
