The River Dee Trust has launched its biggest ever online auction, with some unique and exciting lots coming under the hammer. The auction will raise funds to support the Trust’s crucial work in river restoration, salmon research and education.
The auction lots include a unique chance to swim in the Dee with Mirjam Brady, whose inspirational story was covered by STV and newspapers. Mirjam committed to swim in the winter months to raise funds for the river that helped her through her darker days of lockdown. She has since broken her own fundraising target. Now, she is offering an induction to wild swimming, a bracing swim with her, plus coffee and cake to follow for the winning bidder.
Bidders can snap up some bargains in time for Christmas, such as the chance to win a bath full of yoghurt, commissioning your own bagpipe tune, an opportunity to visit a past era with a luxury pony picnic, glamping at Glen Dye, an exclusive tour of Her Majesty’s Pony Stud at Balmoral as well as fishing on the Dee, Tweed, Thurso and Stinchar, and much more – riverdeeauction.org.uk
River Director Dr Lorraine Hawkins said, “It is a challenging time for fundraising, but I have been delighted with the River Dee community’s response for auction lots, which has helped this year’s auction to be our biggest yet. The river plays an important role in people’s lives on Deeside, and it is heartening that our work enjoys such strong support.”
The auction begins on Monday 2 November and runs for three weeks, concluding on Sunday 22 November at 8pm.
