Andrew Flitcroft, editor of Trout and Salmon Magazine, will be the Guest of Honour at the opening of the River Spey on February 11th.
We’ve been chatting to Andrew today and “he’s thrilled to be opening the river and looking forward to a cast”.
Visitors and anglers will start to gather from 8.30am for drams of Aberlour 12-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky, samples of Walkers Shortbread and hot drinks supplied by Aberlour Bespoke Catering.
The official ceremony starts at 9.00am. Guests and anglers will be welcomed by Roger Knight, Director of the Spey Fishery Board and the Spey Foundation. Rev. Geoffrey McKee will perform blessing of the river.
Stuart Martin the 2019 winner of the Spey Anniversary Quaich will pour a bottle of single malt whisky (12 YO Aberlour) from Penny Bridge into the river to the sound of bagpipes.

The ceremony starts at 9am at the Penny Bridge in Aberlour’s Alice Littler Park on Tuesday, 11th February 2020.
