FishPal are starting to make changes to bring us into compliance with the new GDPR regulations which are designed to protect people’s personal data and needs all businesses to make significant changes to the way they handle data and how and to whom it is passed.
In our case, even if you did give us permission to pass on any of your personal data to third parties, we can no longer safely do so unless we can be sure that those parties are themselves GDPR compliant and will stay so. In the case of fisheries we have no practical way of checking this.
Hence when booking from now on, we will only pass to the relevant fishery your name and nearest town (not personal data), but NOT your full postal address, postcode, telephone numbers or email addresses (which are).
To help fisheries or their ghillies still contact you in the event of a flood, or any other issue with your booking, we have provided a way for them to message you by email or text using our systems (but without seeing the relevant email address or mobile phone number).
We will monitor this message system to make sure it is not abused. Fisheries may wish to use it to ask you for your contact details and it is then entirely up to you if you want to risk sending them these direct, as the fishery may not be GDPR compliant, and if they are using our system properly, they really should not need to ask for anything more to properly fulfil your booking.
