FishPal travelled to the Queen of Scottish Rivers this month to present the FishPal Malloch Trophy for the largest salmon caught and released by an angler in Scotland during 2016.
Local anglers, friends, family and invited guests joined John MacIsaac and ghillie Joe McGinty to celebrate their achievement of catching and releasing a salmon of a lifetime measuring 118.3cm and estimated between 38-41 pounds on the River Spean a tributary of the River Lochy last September.
With Ben Nevis in the background Tom Buchanan (2015 winner) presented the trophy to John MacIssac, the 2016 winner of the FishPal Malloch Trophy.
2016 Ghillie Award was presented to Joe McGinty who netted the magnificent salmon by Malcolm Anderson of Caledonia Fly Company.
Malcolm also presented the 2016 River Award which was accepted on behalf of the river by the River’s Marketing Manager John Veitch.
During the presentation John MacIsaac received a replica Malloch Trophy, a Mackenzie DTX rod, a £250 FishPal voucher and a box of salmon flies from Caledonia Fly Company.
