Last weekend the FishPal team consisting of Tom, Joe, Malcolm and Anne fished the Dalguise beat, on the middle Tay near Dunkeld.
Dalguise is situated 2 miles downstream from the confluence of the Tay and Tummel and is enjoying its best start to the season for more than 5 years. Last Thursday a stunning 25lb bar of silver was caught in the Bridge Pool in front of the fishing hut.
The beat is double bank and 1.25 miles in length with nine major pools and can offer fishing in all heights of water and temperature. It has something for every style of angler whether it’s fly or spinning.
“The fishing hut is one of the best on the river” say’s Tom Carter FishPal.
The facilites are exceptional and include ample parking, fishing hut, coffee machine, toilet facilities and life vests available.
We enjoyed a super lunch prepared by Moray’s wife Sam of home made soup followed with a platter of local produce which included cheeses, pate, meats and finished with the best chocolate cake we have tasted – highly recommended. Sam can cater for fishing parties and corporate guests with food ranging from light lunches to hot meals. The beat is perfect for corporate and family fishing days.
The Tay this year is seeing some exceptional fish enter the system, with fish of 20lb plus caught each week. The numbers may not have arrived as of yet, but, the size and depth of MSW 3 fish entering the river are Tay specimens. Earlier this year David Summers said “There is a chance of a genuine 40 pound fish will be caught”.
With big tides this week fish are continuing to enter the system. Book a days fishing
