Spring has arrived and the water temperatures are up for this time of year. January and February have produced some lovely fish but things have been slower than usual. Fingers crossed there should be a much better March with fish pushing up through the beats on your river. We have had some snow putting water reserves on the hills for later in the spring.
Now we are heading into March and milder weather fish will be more willing to move for the fly as many rivers are over the 40 degrees mark now. I would be happy to still use a copper tube but a lot of anglers will move onto dressed doubles especially in the midday temperature rise. Flies I would suggest for March are –
Copper Tubes for those who still need to get down on their river systems – I would be fishing the Norwegian Monkey or the Golden Angel, these are two cracking spring patterns.
Dressed Doubles – Posh Tosh Feeler and the Blue Angel Cascade both outstanding patterns for this time of year.
