Hoddom Beat And VisitScotland

Oct 1, 2014 | River Reports

FishPal produce VisitScotland's Fishing PortalFishPal’s Tom Carter, Gary Scott and Hoddom beat introduced journalists from leading German publications last month to salmon fishing on behalf of VisitScotland.

Hoddom beat was the perfect location,  just four miles from the sea which makes it a popular choice for visiting anglers when fishing conditions are right. The visitors enjoyed a casting demonstration from Gary Scott world spey casting champion and then had a go themselves using rods Gary has designed for Shakespeare.

The morning introduction session was finished with a BBQ lunch and the opportunity to meet George Birkbeck, owner of Hoddom  & Kinmount Estate. Lunch was kindly provided by the estate using home grown produce. During lunch the journalists also chatted with German anglers fishing the beat and one of the organisers of the popular German Fly Fishing show EWF who was also visiting Scotland.
