Hot Off The Press – Tay Opening 2014

Jan 15, 2014 | Uncategorized

Alex Salmond MSPMark Cockburn reports from the Tay opening ceremony this morning.

Tay opening commenced with a Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Dunkeld House Hotel, where guests were treated to live music from the local school as they enjoyed a hearty Tay breakfast.

Alex Salmond MSP in his opening speech said “2014 is an important year to Scotland and has promised to review the Salmon Fishing Industry in Scotland. This will be chaired by John Milne, Outgoing Chairman of Scottish National Heritage”.

Junior angler Jimmy aged 7 helped Alex Salmond perform the first cast. Jimmy landed  his biggest fish to date of 21lb on the Tay last year.

Welcome drams, shortbread and a wood burning stove were very much appreciated on a wet, damp day in Perthshire.
