FishPal would like to welcome junior angler Dylan Hooley to the FishPal team. Dylan will be keeping junior anglers up to date with his fishing and fly tying tips across the fishing season. Dylan is no stranger to the fishing world, a regular at his parents shop Fly Only where he can be found casting a line for carp, roach and perch at Fly Only’s Casting School or tying flies from a buzzer to a classic salmon fly in the shop.
Dylan’s blog says……’The days are starting to get longer, and warmer. Many of us like
to get out again and start catching fish, mainly using sinking lines and ether lures or gold-head nymphs that will get down to the depths where the freshly stocked fish are holding up and feeding. It is always good fun fishing for these, but if you want to try for an overwintered fish look at using a fry pattern of up-to 2”-3” long something around the same length of last years coarse fry. You could also give buzzers a go too, but the water temperature could still be a little cold to see much action here. An intermediate or slow sinking line for searching the different depths would be good choice of line, and try to find an area where you can fish into deep water close to the bank, good depths are 10’-15’. Try a few areas until you find the fish, and most of all enjoy yourself”

We hope to receive a few penned words from Dylan on a monthly basis, in between his fishing, casting, fly tying and school work. Tight Lines Dylan and welcome on board.
