River Sog is the largest spring fed river in Iceland and is renowned for its beautiful surroundings. River Sog has a high percentage of MSW salmon and a good number of Arctic char. River Sog is all private water and has six separate salmon beats and 13 rods in total. The Sog beats are Bildsfell, Asgardur and Alvidra with 3 rods each, Tannastadir has 2 rods, Sydri-Bru and Thrastarlundur have one rod each.
All the River Sog beats have private and comfortable self-catering lodges (sleeping 5-6 people) except for the one rod beats. The accommodation in the lodges is included in the price of the rods. All the lodges have very well equipped kitchens for cooking, 2-3 bedrooms, WC & shower, dining, sitting room and the Asgardur lodge has a jacuzzi on the veranda. The river itself a dramatic combination of gravel-flats, waterfalls and gorges, ensuring the variety of pools fished are great. With 75 marked pools, plus smaller pools unmarked in between, the Nordlingafljot offers a fishing experience to please any angler. With only six rods fishing over 13 kilometers of river there is enough space to move freely around. In addition, the chances of catching salmon on the Nordlingafljot are higher than in most other rivers in Iceland.
Furthermore, the river is ideal for families or small fishing groups and the Husafell area offers interesting attractions and services to travelers, everything from heated swimming pools to Icelandic pony rides.
